ABS light on

An ABS light on your car means the anti-lock braking system has a fault — your normal brakes still work, but the anti-skid help may not kick in during hard or slippery stops. Steps to fix abs light on

  1. Look at whether it is the ABS light alone, or the ABS light AND the red brake light together — that difference matters a lot.
  2. ABS light alone: your regular brakes still work, so you can usually drive gently to a mechanic, but expect no anti-lock help in a panic stop.
  3. Drive extra carefully in rain, snow, or ice with the ABS light on — without anti-lock, hard braking can lock the wheels and skid.
  4. IF BOTH the ABS and the red brake light are on: treat it as a possible full brake-system fault — stop safely and get it towed.
  5. This app cannot read the car's fault codes, so it will not name the exact ABS sensor — it only helps you judge how urgent it is.
  6. When in doubt about your braking, do not drive — get it checked before relying on it in bad weather.
