Check engine light flashing

Steps to fix check engine light flashing

  1. STOP DRIVING as soon as you can safely do so — a flashing check engine light means active damage is happening every mile you keep going.
  2. Signal, pull over to a safe spot off the road, and put the car in park with the hazard lights on.
  3. Do not try to 'drive it just a little farther' — continued driving can overheat and destroy the catalytic converter and risk a fire under the car.
  4. Turn the engine off and call for a tow to a mechanic rather than driving to one.
  5. This app cannot read your car's trouble codes, so it will not guess what is misfiring — the point is simply to stop and get it towed.
  6. When in doubt, do not drive — a flashing light is the one that means tow it, not risk it.
