Power steering warning light on

A power steering warning light on your car — often marked EPS — means the assist system has a fault and the steering can suddenly become much heavier to turn, especially at low speed. Steps to fix power steering warning light on

  1. Expect heavier steering: with power assist faulted, the wheel still turns but takes much more effort, most noticeably parking and at low speed.
  2. Keep both hands firmly on the wheel and slow down, giving yourself extra room, since turns now need more muscle.
  3. Try a simple reset: safely stop, turn the engine fully off, wait a moment, and restart — a temporary glitch sometimes clears this light.
  4. If it clears and stays off, drive on cautiously; if it comes right back, treat it as a real fault to have checked.
  5. This app cannot read the car's fault codes, so it will not name the exact sensor or module — a shop must test the EPS system.
  6. When in doubt, do not drive far with heavy, unpredictable steering — get to a mechanic while you still have safe control.
