A traction control light on your car can mean two very different things: a quick flash while driving usually means the system is actively working in a slippery moment, while a steady light often means it has switched itself off due to a fault. Steps to fix traction control light on

  1. Watch the light's behavior: a brief flash during acceleration or on a slick surface means traction control is doing its job — that is normal.
  2. A steady, stays-on light usually means the system disabled itself because of a fault, so it will not help if a tire slips.
  3. Check whether you accidentally pressed the traction-control OFF button — pressing it again (or restarting the car) may bring the system back.
  4. With the system faulted off, drive gently and leave extra room in rain, snow, or ice, where traction control matters most.
  5. This app cannot read the car's fault codes, so it will not name the exact sensor — often a wheel-speed sensor — a shop must test that.
  6. When in doubt on slippery roads without traction control, do not drive hard — slow down and have it checked when you can.
