Privacy Policy

SightLine is a free, no-signup app that lets you point your camera and talk to an AI that sees what you see — built blind-first, for describing the world around you, repair help, live captions, and more. SightLine is operated by AMTDA GLOBAL LLC (the company behind the aloftcast.com service). This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your data. We wrote it to match what the code actually does.

Camera and microphone

SightLine has two kinds of AI features, and they send different things:

Live sessions (the main camera room, screen sharing, co-work): your microphone audio and camera frames stream directly from your device to Google Gemini to generate answers (with one exception for the "describe" feature, explained under "Camera and microphone" below). Your voice is only ever sent to Google — no other AI provider receives your audio. Google processes it under its own terms and privacy policy. On the website you hold the talk button to speak; on the installed app the room listens hands-free — see "Hands-free listening" below.

Photo-question features (the describe, read-text, and repair pages): these send a camera photo and your question as text — never your voice — through our server to an AI model provider to generate the answer. Depending on availability that provider is Google Gemini and, when configured, Groq or OpenRouter, each processing the photo under its own terms and privacy policies.

SightLine's own server never stores your camera frames or your microphone audio. In live sessions your microphone audio travels directly from your device to Google and never touches our server. Your camera frames also travel directly to Google, with one exception: when you ask SightLine to describe or check what's in view, a single camera frame is relayed through our server to a second AI model that verifies what is actually on screen — this keeps the spoken description grounded in the real image and is how SightLine guards against making things up. That frame is in transit only — it is never written to disk or logged, and it is only ever an image, never your audio. Apart from that check our server only issues a short-lived connection ticket. In photo-question features, the photo and your question pass through our server only for the moment it takes to get the answer and are never written to disk.

On the website, nothing streams while you're idle: audio and frames are only sent while you hold the talk button (plus a brief first look when you start, and a short burst when you ask it to read something). On the installed app, hands-free listening works as described next.

Hands-free listening (installed app)

On the installed SightLine app, the microphone turns on when you open the app, so you can just start talking — no button needed. While the microphone is open you'll hear a soft, gentle tone repeat every few seconds: that sound means SightLine is listening. While it listens, what the microphone hears streams directly from your device to Google Gemini — and only to Google, the same as the hold-to-talk microphone; nothing is stored on our server. (While SightLine itself is talking it pauses listening so it doesn't hear its own voice — tap the screen to interrupt it.) Say "quiet" and SightLine stops talking — but the microphone stays open so it can hear you when you speak again. Say "stop listening" to turn the open microphone off and go back to press-to-talk. If nothing happens for a few minutes, listening switches itself off and SightLine tells you so out loud.

Screen sharing (Android app)

If you ask the app to read your phone's screen, the app also sends the current screen image — but only while you are sharing: your phone asks your permission each time, a notice shows the whole time, and you can stop from the in-room button, the notification, or your phone's own controls. Screen images are streamed directly from your device to Google Gemini, the same way as camera frames in a live session, to be described or read aloud. Screen content is never stored on our server. The describe check explained above is the one exception to the direct path here too: if you ask SightLine to describe or check what's in view while sharing, the single frame relayed to the verification model is an image of your shared screen — in transit only, never written to disk or logged.

Co-work: the microphone stays open while you roam (Android app)

Co-work lets you leave the app to use another app while your screen share stays live. During co-work the app keeps your microphone open so you can ask questions hands-free: a sound signals that the mic is on, a notice and a small on-screen button stay visible the whole time, and the roaming mode ends when you return to the app or dismiss the button. Your speech and your shared screen are streamed directly from your device to Google Gemini only while the co-work session is active, and are not stored on our server — exactly like the in-room microphone.

Video calls with another person (website)

Our website also lets you start a simple video call with another person by sharing a link. Video calls are different from AI sessions: your call video and audio are carried by Agora, a third-party real-time communications network, between you and the person you're calling. Agora relays the call under its own terms and privacy policy; our server only creates the room and a short-lived join token — the call itself never passes through our server, and we do not record calls. Calls are encrypted in transit, but they are not end-to-end encrypted — like most mainstream video-call services, the relay network processes the streams to deliver them. The first time you join a call, the video-call software is loaded from a content delivery network (jsDelivr), which sees your device's network address like any website you visit.

Recordings and transcripts stay on your device

If you record a session or save a transcript, that file is created and stored on your device. A session recording is saved as a downloaded clip; a transcript is exported as a plain text file. We do not upload or keep your recordings or transcripts unless you choose to download or share them yourself. (If you ask the app to generate a written summary of a session, the transcript text is sent to the AI provider to produce that summary; the summary is returned to your device and is not stored on our server.) Photos and video clips you capture are kept in the app's on-device library (browser storage on your phone; the newest 60 are kept, and nothing is uploaded) and can be deleted any time from the memories page.

Documents you save stay on your device

Photo invites for video calls

If you start a video call by snapping a photo to send with the invite, that one photo is uploaded to our server so the person you text can see it when they open your link. It is stored on disk for that purpose only, deleted automatically within about 7 days, and never used for anything else.

The email form

Some pages offer to email you a checklist. If you submit that form, we store the email address you entered, short tags for the app and the page it came from, a timestamp, and the network (IP) address the form was sent from, so we can follow up and prevent abuse. Don't submit an email if you don't want us to have it.

Access codes

If an access code is required for a feature, it is stored locally in your browser (in local storage) so you don't have to re-enter it. It is not tied to a personal account on our side.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our servers keep standard technical logs — including IP addresses and basic request information — to run the service, debug problems, and prevent abuse.

What we don't do

Children's privacy

SightLine is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, through the email form), contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of SightLine after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Contact & deleting your data

Questions about privacy? Email info@amtdaglobal.com.

Almost everything SightLine touches lives on your device, where you can delete it yourself at any time (memories and saved photos from the app's own pages; everything at once by clearing the app's data). Beyond the standard technical logs described above, the only personal data our server holds are an email address you chose to submit and a call-invite photo, which deletes itself within about 7 days. To have either removed sooner, email us at the address above and we will delete it.
