Steps to fix lg dishwasher ae error

  1. Kill power at the breaker or unplug the machine, and shut off its water valve under the sink before anything else — AE means water has reached the base pan, and you want the machine dead before you go toweling around it.
  2. Pull off the lower kick panel and dry the base pan completely with towels — a fan helps — because the float switch needs a dry pan before the AE error will reset.
  3. Fix the detergent first: only real dishwasher detergent, properly measured — too much soap, or the wrong kind, foams over the tub into the pan and trips AE without any real leak.
  4. Wipe the door gasket clean of food and grease and check it for trapped debris — a fouled gasket breaks the door seal and lets wash water dribble down into the pan.
  5. Check that the machine sits level and snug the hose connections and clamps you can reach — an unlevel install or a loose clamp is exactly the slow seep that keeps refilling the pan — then restore power and water and watch a short cycle.
  6. If AE comes back after starting from a bone-dry pan, water really is leaking — a hose, the inlet valve, or a seal — so stop running the dishwasher and have an appliance-repair tech trace it before it soaks the floor.
