LG washer dE error

The LG washer dE error means the door won't lock — the machine checked the door before starting and couldn't secure it, so it refused to run. On an LG washer the dE code (dE1 and dE2 on some models) is usually a door that isn't pressed fully shut, laundry caught between the door and the gasket, or a door latch that's drifted out of line with the lock. Point your camera at the door and the latch and SightLine walks you through clearing the LG dE code one step at a time.

Steps to fix lg washer de error

  1. Open the door and close it again firmly until it clicks — dE means the washer couldn't lock the door, and a door that isn't pressed fully shut is the most common cause.
  2. Check the door opening and the rubber boot seal for trapped laundry — a sleeve or sock caught between the door and the gasket holds the door open just enough to block the lock.
  3. Wipe lint and detergent buildup off the boot seal and the latch area so the door hook can seat cleanly in the lock.
  4. Look at how the door hangs when it's open — if it sags or sits crooked on its hinge, the latch hook misses the lock, and the misalignment is what dE is really flagging.
  5. Do LG's published reset: unplug the washer, hold START/PAUSE for five seconds, plug it back in, and restart the cycle — this clears a one-time dE.
  6. If dE, dE1, or dE2 comes back with the door closing cleanly and nothing trapped in the seal, the door latch or the lock sensor has failed — that's a part an appliance-repair tech should diagnose and replace.
