Samsung dryer HE error
The Samsung dryer HE error (or HE1) means the dryer detected overheating — the exhaust temperature climbed past the safe limit and it shut down to protect itself. On a Samsung dryer the HE code is a restricted vent about 60% of the time, or a faulty thermistor or heating element. Because overheating and fire go together, show SightLine the lint path and vent and SightLine walks you through clearing the Samsung HE error safely.

Steps to fix samsung dryer he error
- Unplug the dryer before checking the vent path.
- Clean the lint filter and rinse off any softener film — a clogged filter is the most common HE trigger.
- Disconnect the vent hose at the back and clear the lint inside; straighten a crushed or sharply-bent hose.
- Clear the outside vent flap of lint and confirm it opens when the dryer runs.
- Give the dryer 30 minutes to cool, plug it back in, and run a short cycle to see if HE clears with the airflow restored.
- If HE returns with a fully clear vent, the thermistor or heating element is failing and needs testing or replacement by an appliance pro — don't keep running an overheating dryer.
Safety first: if a step calls for gas, a main water or sewer line, a service panel or main breaker, or a sealed refrigerant system, stop and call a licensed pro — Repair Copilot will tell you when you're there.
