Samsung fridge 22E error
The Samsung fridge 22E error means the freezer's evaporator fan motor gave no feedback to the control board — the fan that pushes cold air through the fridge isn't turning the way the control expects. On newer models the same fault reads 22C, and the usual cause is ice encasing the fan or a fan motor that's failing. Show SightLine the display and SightLine walks you through the Samsung 22E error, starting with the fix Samsung itself documents — a full defrost.

Steps to fix samsung fridge 22e error
- Check which code you have — 22E on older models and 22C on newer ones flag the same fault: the freezer's evaporator fan gave no feedback to the control board.
- Put your ear to the freezer with the door closed — a scraping or clicking sound is the fan blades hitting ice, and dead silence where there used to be a low hum points the same way.
- Move the food to a cooler, then do exactly what Samsung documents for this code: unplug the fridge and leave the doors open for a few hours so the ice around the fan melts.
- While it thaws, mind the food: perishables that sit above 40°F for more than 2 hours should go, and freezer food that still has ice crystals can safely be refrozen.
- Plug the fridge back in and give it a few hours to pull back down to temperature, listening for the fan running smoothly again.
- If 22E or 22C returns after a full defrost, the ice is a symptom — the defrost system or the fan motor itself is failing, and that's a job for an appliance-repair tech.
