The Samsung washer SUD error means too many soap suds — the machine detected foam, paused on purpose, and is adding water to dissolve it before it carries on. Steps to fix samsung washer sud error

  1. Don't cancel the cycle or unplug — SUD isn't a breakdown; the washer pauses on purpose, adds water to dissolve the foam, and continues on its own once the suds break down.
  2. When the cycle finishes, run a rinse cycle with zero detergent to flush the leftover soap out of the drum and the lines.
  3. Fix the dose going forward — an HE washer needs HE detergent and less of it than you'd guess, so measure it instead of pouring, because too much soap is the number-one SUD cause.
  4. Unplug the washer, put a pan and towels down, and clean the drain-pump filter — slowly open it to let the trapped water out, because a clogged filter creates back-pressure the machine reads as suds even when the soap dose was right.
  5. Know your display — the same fault shows as SUD, 5D, or SD depending on the model, so if the code lands with barely any detergent in the drawer, suspect the pump filter or leftover residue, not today's soap.
  6. If SUD keeps stopping cycles with measured HE detergent, a rinsed-out drum, and a clean pump filter, the machine's suds sensing or drain system needs an appliance-repair tech to check.
